In a new development for the crypto space, fiat-cum-crypto payments platform Wirex is collaborating with I2c Company to produce a travel card that will support the use of both fiat and crypto payments in the Asia Pacific region.

According to an announcement made on Monday December 30, the proposed multicurrency card aims to accommodate more than 150 fiat and crypto currencies. Some of the targeted mainstream currencies from both sides include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Nano, Singapore Dollar, US Dollar, Australian Dollar, British Pound, and the Japanese yen among others.
Pavel Matveev is the co-founder and CEO of Wirex. Speaking about the development, he said:
“Wirex Partnered with i2c because they have extensive experience with multicurrency wallets, are the only processor that can integrate both crypto and traditional currencies on a single platform, and have consistently delivered an effective and reliable service.”
Two Payment Processors Coming Together
Since 12c is another payment processor, the two companies are coming together to provide users with easier and faster facilitation of deposits on the travel card using their debit or credit cards.
Besides, the initiative allows users to enjoy a 1.5 percent crypto reward for every in-store purchase. This development will also allow users to escape high fees associated with travel exchanges through open access to interbank and over-the-counter rates.
Wirex is keen on rewarding its customers in crypto, which is the reason it launched WXT tokens to achieve the objective. After launching the token, Wirex managed to raise nearly three million US Dollars through its initial exchange offering conducted on OKEx.
On its part, 12c has lauded the collaboration in equal measure. Through its senior vice president of product Ava Kelly, the company noted:
“Wirex cardholders are now able to travel with multiple currencies to all of the countries they visit using just one card, as well as exchange their crypto to the currency of their choice.”
Kelly added that they are pleased to have helped enhance Wirex operations into the Asia Pacific region through the multicurrency travel card that would improve customers’ experience during travel. I2c is committed to providing its users with the control and flexibility they need. It achieves this by designing, testing, and scaling new features that are unique to their businesses.
